No. 144The Outdoors
Twin Peaks at the Edge of Tide
A lone rock holds its ground while the swell keeps arriving.
A solitary sea stack rises from open water, its ochre flanks darkening to weathered black at the waterline where surf breaks white around it. Guano bleaches the summit, and two slender metal poles lean from the crest with a single bird perched at their base. Above, thin cloud drifts across a deep blue sky, hazing to pale grey at the horizon. Quiet, vertical, and built on the tension between still rock and moving sea.
