Lavender Rows At The Abbey
Midsummer in Provence, measured out in purple lines.
A field of lavender in full bloom runs in converging rows toward a Romanesque stone abbey with a squat bell tower, its long roofline set against wooded hills. Hard summer light bleaches the limestone and deepens the sky to a cloudless blue, while the ochre soil between rows draws the eye through the frame. The geometry of cultivation against old architecture gives the picture its quiet order.
