Chrysanthemums in Low Light
A single shaft of light finds the white blooms and lets the rest fall away.
A dense bank of cut flowers photographed in monochrome, with sunflowers, roses and lilies receding into near-black while a mass of chrysanthemums and small daisies catches the only available light. The exposure holds detail in the bright petals and lets everything else collapse into shadow, turning a crowded market display into a study of luminance, texture and the shapes petals make when light is scarce.
