Poppies at Last Light
Ember-bright blooms holding the last of the day in a darkening garden.
Orange poppies burn against a garden falling into darkness, their cupped petals catching the final warm light while stems, seed pods and small white and pink wildflowers recede into deep green shadow. A pale building blurs behind the tangle at the top of the frame. The picture works on contrast alone: a handful of lit blooms scattered through a field of near-black, arranged so the eye steps from one glow to the next.
