No. 166Flora
Luminescence in the Deep Forest
A shaft of light finds the outer needles and the forest keeps the rest.
Soft light skims the outermost sprays of a conifer, picking out feathery needles in pale green while the rest of the forest recedes into near-black. The frame is dense with overlapping branches, a few bare twigs cutting diagonally across, and a single small yellow leaf near the bottom. It reads as a study in how little light a forest interior actually lets through, and how much that little does.
