No. 156The Outdoors
Between the Fence and Mountains
A lichen-crusted rail line drawn between wet grass and low cloud.
A weathered split-rail fence, its posts crusted with pale lichen, runs diagonally from the foreground into a broad coastal meadow of green and dry-gold grass. Beyond the field a row of houses sits at the base of soft ridges, half-dissolved in marine haze under a flat grey sky. The dark, vignetted foreground pulls the eye along the rails toward that distant edge of town.
